Con la crisi e il “caro combustibili” in Italia sono tornate le stufe e si riaccendono i camini, facendo segnare un aumento record del 15% delle importazioni di legna nel 2013 rispetto allo scorso anno. È quanto emerge da una analisi della Coldiretti sulla base dei dati Istat relativi ai primi sette mesi del 2013 dalla quale si evidenza che quest’anno con l’arrivo dell’inverno ci sono oltre sei milioni di stufe e camini accesi sul territorio nazionale. Con l’importazione di ben 3,5 miliardi di chili di legna da ardere nel corso di tutto il 2013 che saranno bruciati per garantire il caldo nelle case degli italiani, l’Italia – stima la Coldiretti – è diventato il primo importatore mondiale di legna da ardere.

Un’ottima notizia per l’ambiente, milioni di stufe e camini che buttano fuori di tutto senza regolamentazione e controllo. Credo che manchi poco all’arrivo di regolamentazioni insostenibili e tasse sulla legna da ardere.

Veramente io la stufa a legna ce l’avevo anche prima. E uso solo quella come fonte di riscaldamento. Costa meno, e’ veloce, e inquina anche meno.
L’importante e’ isolare bene termicamente la casa. Con 15 cm di cemento e polistirolo sul tetto, e delle contropareti interne di stacciole di 8cm con un’intercapedine vuota di 2cm (l’aria nell’intercapedine funge da isolante), in mezz’ora la stufa riscalda l’ambiente. E rimane caldo per tutta la notte. Anche se la lascio spegnere, la ghisa mantiene calore residuo per ore.
Con un dissipatore a vie multiple sul tubo d’uscita, si recupera anche molto del calore dei fumi, aumentando la superficie di scambio termico.
E quando devi asciugare il bucato, alzi le stecche pieghevoli lungo il tubo, e via. In un’ora asciuga.
La piastra superiore si puo’ usare anche per cucinare, quando devi preparare tante cose insieme e non ti bastano i fornelli, ha pure il forno, e la cenere fa da concime per l’orto. Io mi ci trovo benissimo.

Portuguese designer Susana Soares has developed a device for detecting cancer and other serious diseases using trained bees. The bees are placed in a glass chamber into which the patient exhales; the bees fly into a smaller secondary chamber if they detect cancer. 

Scientists have found that honey bees – Apis mellifera – have an extraordinary sense of smell that is more acute than that of a sniffer dog and can detect airborne molecules in the parts-per-trillion range. 

Bees can be trained to detect specific chemical odours, including the biomarkers associated with diseases such as tuberculosis, lung, skin and pancreatic cancer.
