Internazionale published a series of maps detailing the inequality between wealth and poverty in the world. One of the maps compares famous companies to countries (Apple’s market value amounts to Austria’s GDP, for example).

This is the map of imbalance in Italy. The numbers on the left refer on the income per person, though they don’t include tax evasion (as evaders can’t be tracked). The two blue Italies in the left bottom describe the distribution of wealth. The lighter the colour, the more equally wealth is distributed among the population. As you can see, the light blue diminished from 2003 to 2011.

Comunque mi sembra un po’ semplicistica come mappa. E’ vero che il reddito annuo medio cambia molto da Milano a un paesino della Calabria, ma la qualita’ della vita non dipende solo a quello, ne’ dalla sua varianza. Andrebbe rapportato anche al costo della vita e al potere d’acquisto, zona per zona.

Perche’ uno che prende 2000 euro al mese a Milano, e poi ne spende 1000 di affitto e 800 di bollette, cibo e trasporti, non credo che se la passi molto meglio di uno che ne guadagna 1000 in un paesino della Calabria, con affitti e spese molto piu bassi.
